Post Re: List of interesting conferences / events
I look forward to meet many of you at the IAVSD conference in Manchester later this month.

We'll present first results for the CONTACT add-on that we're developing for SIMPACK Rail. These include the accuracy of the contact forces, and the pressures and wear density in the contact patch.

I would like to ask you for your help in compiling a survey of related works. Which papers describe the use of a detailed (non-Hertzian, non-simplified) theory for the contact forces in combination with multi-body simulation?

Dear Edwin,

Here at Imperial College we are working on accurate wheel-rail contact detection for use in parallel with MBS, NOT to be embedded within it. Our primary focus is the development of a tool for contact damage analysis throughout railway switches and crossings, therefore the primary stage is accurate initial contact detection (multiple contacts, flange-back, conformal and non-conformal contact regions, yaw effects, etc...). This will then be used as a platform for developing a detailed contact stress analysis (much like CONTACT), which would then feed into subsequent material degradation models.

It would be great if a list of other, related research project would be available in order to share experiences and possible collaboration opportunities.

Best regards,

Ian Coleman
